Special-Shaped Head Flanging Machine for Pressure Vessels
Time:2025-07-30 14:17:58View count:

The special-shaped head flanging machine is designed for processing non-standard heads such as elliptical, butterfly, and conical shapes, using a 2,800-ton four-column hydraulic system. It performs both cold and hot flanging on carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel-based alloy plates with thicknesses ranging from 8 to 120 mm. The key advantage is its ability to maintain curvature accuracy of ±1.5mm/m, even when processing workpieces up to 6.5 meters in diameter. Combined with an infrared heating module offering temperature control from 300°C to 950°C, it effectively eliminates material hardening effects. It plays a crucial role in high-end manufacturing applications such as hemispherical heads for nuclear power pressure vessels and conical transition sections for hydrogenation reactors.

Technical Parameters & Process Control

Equipped with a 26-32 MPa main hydraulic cylinder system, the machine provides a rapid descent speed of 120 mm/s and an adjustable feed rate of 3-15 mm/s. The upper die floating accuracy reaches ±0.05°, and the lower die rotation positioning accuracy is ±0.1°. A 12-36 zone induction heating system achieves a heating rate of ≤15°C/s and a temperature differential control of ±10°C. A laser profile scanning device compares the CAD model in real time and applies 0.2-1.8% springback compensation, ensuring a wall thickness reduction of ≤7% and an ellipticity error of <0.3%, meeting JB/T 4746-2022 standards.

Industrial Applications & Functions

In the energy sector, this machine can form duplex stainless steel deep-sea heads (δ ≥ 80mm) and titanium alloy aviation fuel tank heads (requiring inert gas thermoforming). In the chemical industry, it processes polysilicon reactor flat-bottom heads. Its adaptive mold system supports rapid mold changes within 72 hours, and a distributed strain sensor network (with over 200 monitoring points) tracks material deformation in real time.

Equipment Selection Guidelines

Selection involves three key factors: material properties, geometric complexity, and production cycle time. Processing high-strength steel (σb ≥ 780 MPa) requires a 2800-ton pressure system or higher, while non-axisymmetric heads need coordinated control with five or more axes. For mass production, automated loading and unloading systems are recommended to achieve a cycle time of ≤ 25 minutes per piece.
